چکیده

This column reviews the general features of PHT3D Version 2, a reactive multicomponent transport model that couples the geochemical modeling software PHREEQC-2 (Parkhurst and Appelo 1999) with three-dimensional groundwater flow and transport simulators MODFLOW2000 and MT3DMS (Zheng and Wang 1999). The original version of PHT3D was developed by Henning Prommer and Version 2 by Henning Prommer and Vincent Post (Prommer and Post 2010). More detailed information about PHT3D is available at the website http://www.pht3d.org. The review was conducted separately by two reviewers. This column is presented in two parts.

PHT3D – A MODFLOW/MT3DMS-based reactive multi-component transport model

PHT3D, a three-dimensional, MODFLOW/MT3DMS-based reactive multicomponent transport model is presented. The model couples, via an operator-splitting method, the transport simulator MT3DMS (Zheng and Wang, 1998) and the geochemical package PHREEQC-2 (Parkhurst and Appelo, 1999). Through the flexible, generic nature of PHREEQC-2, PHT3D can handle a broad range of equilibrium and kinetic reactive p...

Application of reactive transport modelling to growth and transport of microorganisms in the capillary fringe

A multicomponent multiphase reactive transport simulator has been developed to facilitate the investigation of a large variety of phenomena in porous media including component transport, diffusion, microbiological growth and decay, cell attachment and detachment and phase exchange. The coupled problem is solved using operator splitting. This approach allows a flexible adaptation of the solution...

A three-dimensional numerical model for water flow and transport of chemically reactive solute through porous media under variably saturated conditions

A three-dimensional numerical model is developed for the simulation of water flow and chemical transport through variably saturated porous media. The nonlinear flow equation is solved using the Galerkin finite element technique with the Picard iteration scheme and a continuous velocity field is obtained by separate application of the Galerkin technique to the flux equation. A two-site adsorptio...

Modelling surfactant-enhanced transport of PAH

Within the framework of a comprehensive investigation concerning the use of surfactants to enhance the in-situ remediation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) contaminations in the subsurface, SMART (Streamtube Model for Advective and Reactive Transport), a multicomponent transport model, was developed to study the processes (interactions) taking place when surfactants and PAH migrate thr...
